Wearables Hackathon Organizers

BDL Accelerate 2015 is hosting a Wearables Hackathon powered by Innovo, a DNY Group company – an enticing opportunity for designers, innovators, engineers and developers.

At BDL Accelerate 2015, DNY Group will provide electronic components, a whole bunch of sensors, a wearable sleeve, 3D printing capabilities, and more so that participants grouped in teams can dream up and hack together wearables to enhance lifestyle or sports. in 36 to 48 hours.

The teams will pitch their solutions to a panel of local & international judges on stage at BDL Accelerate 2015. The winning team will win a $3,000 cash prize, the 1st runner-up team will win a $2,000 cash prize, and the 2nd runner-up team will win a $1,000 cash prize. The participants will also have the opportunity to pursue their project at Innovo’s lab after the hackathon is over.

Innovo, a DNY Group company, is organizing the Wearable Hackathon and will be providing the participants with guidance and know-how while also providing access to high-tech Hardware fabrication machines. Meet the Innovo team who will be running the hackathon:

Jad Berro 
Founder
Jad is Innovo’s founder, he specializes in electronics design and manufacturing. Jad has been tinkering with electronics for as long as he can remember. He has the unique ability to build things in creative ways.

Nourhane Haidar
Communications Engineer
Nourhane  has expertise in management and organizing workflow. Nourhane operates and programs Innovo’s potent LPKF s103 PCB milling machine.

Jad Itani
Robotics Engineer
Jad holds masters’ degrees in robotics and in mechanical design. He has versatile skills that include 3D designing, electronics and firmware.

Nicolas Mrad
Communications Engineer
Nicolas specializes in circuitry, machining, production and the testing of new components.

Izzat Shehadeh
Software Developer
Through Izzat’s extensive experience in mobile applications and augmented reality, he has learned how to transform an idea to reality.

Youssef Sidani
Electrical Engineer
Youssef uses mathematics, complex algorithms and electronics to solve tough challenges.

Web & Mobile Hackathon Organizers

BDL Accelerate 2015 is hosting a Web & Mobile hackathon organized by MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab & WDS.

The participants will be provided with a brief that will consist of a specific theme and the contestants will have to collaboratively brainstorm and work extensively to find a web or mobile solution to a specific issue that is shared with them at the start of the hackathon.

The BDL Accelerate 2015 Web & Mobile Hackathon will gather developers/programmers, designers, and businesspersons, who will be grouped in teams and each team will have 36 hours to develop a working website or app.

The teams will pitch their solutions to a panel of international judges on stage at BDL Accelerate 2015. The winning team will win a $3,000 cash prize, the 1st runner-up team will win a $2,000 cash prize, and the 2nd runner-up team will win a $1,000 cash prize.

Meet the WDS team who will be running the hackathon:

Christophe Tallec
Founder
Christophe is WDS founder and specializes in service design & innovation management. He teaches at ENST Paristech the French Telecommunication National Engineering School and is the author of Customer Experience, a transformation framework for organizations.

Arnaud De La Tour
Partner & Board Member

Arnaud is WDS partner and board member and VP at Hello Tomorrow VP, major competition and community for disruptive technologies. He holds a Phd in Economics and previously spent 2 years transforming organizations in BCG.

Sarah Pedroza
Partner

Sarah is a WDS Partner.  She specializes in Entrepreneurship, fin tech and social innovation with change management skills as a former BCG and Bearing Point consultant.

Romain Schalck
Lead Service Design & Service Innovation
Romains is WDS lead service design and service innovation. He currently leads fin tech strategy for WDS banking clients after spending time within the Insurance sector at AXA.

Jovana Kovacevic
Chief Scientific Officer
Jovana is WDS Chief Scientific Officer and holds a PhD in management science with a focus on open innovation. As a system engineer, teacher and researcher, Jovana explores and practice a wide range of innovation methodologies.

University Roadshow

In the spirit of finding the next generation of entrepreneurs, the BDL Accelerate 2015 team has partnered with some of the major universities in Lebanon to inspire youths to join the startup movement and attend the conference.

The roadshow has included the following universities École supérieure des affaires, Lebanese International University, American University of Beirut, and Lebanese American University in addition to Saint Joseph University. NRJ Radio and Nostalgie have been tagging along to spread the word further and farther.

The roadshow also aims to familiarize students with hackathons and encouraging them to participate in the BDL Accelerate hackathons. Hackathons are considered as a great way to start solving real life problems, as a training session, or as a way to prepare participants and educate them on the process of solving issues. Anyone from any background or age can participate in the hackathons hosted by BDL Accelerate 2015.

BDL Accelerate 2015 is hosting two hackathons, Web & Mobile Hackathon and Wearables Hackathon, that will be tackling challenges that the public is faced with on a daily basis in Lebanon. The participants of the Web & Mobile Hackathon will be provided with a brief that will consist of a specific theme and the contestants will have to collaboratively brainstorm and work extensively to find a web or mobile solution to a specific issue that is shared with them at the start of the hackathon. This hackathon is organized by MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab & WDS with cash prizes of $6,000.

As for the Wearables Hackathon, it’s powered Innovo, a DNY Group company that will be providing electronic components, a whole bunch of sensors, a wearable sleeve, 3D printing capabilities, and more to the participants grouped in teams, who will dream up and hack together wearables to enhance lifestyle or sports in 36 to 48 hours.
